About Us
MADE BY A FUSSY SWEDE IN SYDNEY
HI, I'M TESS
I grew up in Sweden where fika - coffee and a treat - is a daily ritual. Treats weren't a guilty thing. They were just part of life.
In 2012 I got diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, which meant I had to start paying serious attention to what was in my food. I read every label. I got annoyed at most of them.
Most "healthy" treats either tasted like cardboard or were quietly full of stuff I couldn't pronounce. I didn't want to give up the foods I grew up loving. So I started making my own.
Friends asked for some. Then a local café. Then another. That's how Wellness by Tess started - not as a wellness brand, but as a treat brand that happens to be ridiculously clean.
what we make
Every product is gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, and 100% vegan.
Some of our treats are no-heat, combining real ingredients without ever turning on the oven, so nothing important gets cooked out. That's our protein balls, dessert slices, and bars.
Others, we bake properly - our soft-baked cookies, and a brownie range launching soon. Different method, same fussiness about ingredients.
You'll find us in cafés and retail stores across Australia, and right here in our online store.
why we do it
We have always tried to keep things wholesome, not extreme, just real and simple. We know that what we put into our bodies affects our immune system, our mental well-being, and how we show up each day. So we thought: why not create products that make life a little easier by packing plenty of goodness into every bite?
Because most "healthy" treats fall into one of two camps: they taste like cardboard, or they're quietly full of stuff that shouldn't be there. We refuse to do either.
We're fussy about ingredients. Wherever possible, we use organic produce. We don't make claims we can't back up. We don't pretend "natural flavours" is a real thing. We avoid fluff. We make decisions with the environment in mind.
Having a platform also means we can do some good. We're a proud partner of SecondBite, regularly donating products to support Australians in need. Several of our team are employed through organisations that empower at-risk Australians, particularly women facing language barriers in finding meaningful work. At the heart of it all, we care about people - including you.
